Chevy Aveo Sedan LT M/T - $14,580 I think it's important to buy American as much as possible, so you can imagine my surprise when I discovered that the Chevy Aveo is made in Korea by Daewoo. Even though Daewoo is now owned by Chevy, the Aveo is still not American made in my eyes. So,
what does the Aveo have going for it? Price, fuel mileage, and decent
looks are the Aveo's strong points. You can get into a brand new Aveo
sedan for less than $11,500 and the 5-door wagon for less than $10,000.
With incentives, I wouldn't be surprised if you could steal an Aveo for
less than $8,000. For a sub-compact car, the Aveo's city mileage is okay
at 24 mpg with a manual transmission. Highway mileage is good at 34 mpg.
Chevy updated the styling of Aveo to match the newly designed Malibu
with slab sides, enlarged wheel wheels, and larger openings in the
grille and front fascia. I especially like the new clear taillights with
the rounded and triangle shaped brake lights. The taillights have jewel
appearance. Now for the cons. The seats are uncomfortable and the 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine is a dog. Handling is poor with a ton a body roll, despite the stiff ride. Road noise is very noticeable in the cabin and the ride can be unnerving at high speeds. The warranty is your standard 3 years/36k miles, which is insufficient for a car with poor reliability ratings. |
